1. Who we are

This website, a-photography-journal.com (the "Website"), is a photography website operated by Mariani K. / Tbilisi, Georgia ("I", "we", "us").

2. Hosting

This Website is built on Ghost and hosted on Ghost(Pro), a managed service provided by the Ghost Foundation. When you visit the Website, the hosting provider automatically processes technical data needed to deliver the pages to you and to keep the service secure. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, date and time of access, and the pages you view.

This processing is necessary to provide the Website and to ensure its security and stability (legitimate interest). Ghost acts as our data processor. More information is available in Ghost's privacy policy: https://ghost.org/privacy/

3. Website analytics

We use Ghost's built-in analytics to understand how visitors use the Website, for example which pages and photo galleries are viewed most often and where visitors come from. [This analytics feature does not use cookies and does not create personal visitor profiles.] We use this information only in aggregated form to improve the Website (legitimate interest).

4. Membership, newsletter and email

If you sign up as a member or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. We use this information to:

  • create and manage your member account,
  • send you the newsletter and updates you signed up for,
  • send transactional emails (e.g. sign-in links).

Ghost records whether newsletters are delivered and opened, and which links are clicked, so we can understand what content is of interest. We have disabled open tracking.

Newsletters are delivered through Mailgun, an email delivery provider used by Ghost(Pro).

Legal basis: your consent, and the performance of the membership agreement you entered into. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email or in your account settings. You can also ask us to delete your account entirely.

5. Comments

If you comment on a post, your comment is published together with your name (as displayed in your member profile). Comments are stored until you delete them or ask us to remove them.

6. Cookies

This Website uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for its operation, for example to keep you signed in as a member (such as ghost-members-ssr) and to protect the Website's administrative area. These cookies do not track you across other websites and do not require consent.

7. Embedded content and external resources

Some pages may include content from third parties, such as [embedded videos, maps, social media posts]. When you view such content, your browser connects directly to the third-party provider, which may receive your IP address and set its own cookies. We have no control over this processing.

The Website's theme may load fonts or scripts from external content delivery networks [e.g. Google Fonts, jsDelivr]. In doing so, your IP address is transmitted to the relevant provider.

8. Photographs and people depicted

This Website displays photographs, some of which may show identifiable people. We will review and respond to your request promptly.

9. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process your email address and the content of your message to respond to your inquiry. We keep this correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Our service providers (including Ghost, Mailgun and Stripe) may process data on servers outside Georgia, including in the European Union and the United States. Where personal data is transferred to countries without an adequate level of data protection, the transfer is made on the basis of appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent contractual protections.

11. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

  • Member and newsletter data: until you delete your account or unsubscribe and ask us to delete it.
  • Payment records: for the period required by Georgian accounting and tax law.
  • Server log data: for a short period, as determined by our hosting provider, for security purposes.

12. Your rights

Under the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • obtain information about and access to the personal data we hold about you,
  • request correction of inaccurate data,
  • request deletion of your data,
  • request restriction of processing,
  • receive your data in a portable format (where applicable),
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests,
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
